Note : Ancients Egyptians were adept of Damnatio memoriae meaning :

The sense of the expression damnatio memoriae and of the sanction is to cancel as if they had never existed or tampering every trace of a person.

Political power, mainly Pharaonic, allowed to erase (in particular by the re-engraving of scenes and their legends), to tampering, demolish or destroy representations, because of political or religious quarrels, in order to prohibit a person or a mystical force the possibility of having existed or being harmful.
