    Biographies (in order of sequence in conference)


    Dr Shoaib (00:07:10) is formally trained as a chemical engineer (BEng from the University of Bath and PhD from University of Nottingham) and is an Assistant Professor at Zayed University in Dubai where he teaches the natural sciences. He also has had some alimiyya training and recently finished his MSc in Philosophy of Science and Religion at the University of Edinburgh. His research is on the broad contours of Islam and Science, New Atheism, and Islamic Theology.

    Dr. Sohaib Saeed (01:30:00) graduated in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh before majoring in Quranic studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. His PhD at SOAS, London concerned 'Intraquranic Hermeneutics.' He is head of research for Bayyinah Institute, USA, and translator of Imam Razi's Great Exegesis.

    Dr. Safaruk Chowdhury (03:03:06) studied philosophy as well as the traditional Islamic sciences in Cairo and the UK. His PhD from SOAS on Sufism was published and has several more monographs coming out with a focus on Islamic theology and philosophy. He is a professional translator, teacher and educator, and currently lives in London.

    Sheikh Usman Ali (presents in the Q&A 04:29:50) holds an Alimiyyah degree and has taught at various Islamic institutes. He is also an Associate Lecturer and a PhD candidate at the University of Portsmouth and holds a Chartered Scientist Award. Currently, he works as a Senior Specialist in Haematology with clinical laboratory and research roles.
