Par défaut You and your wealth belong to your father!

Assalamû'aleykûm wa rahmatûLah wa barakatuh wa maghfiratuh wa ridwanuh

و صلاة و سلم على رسول و على آله وصحبه وسلم

Here is a beautiful reminder of how important it is to treat our parents the best way we can. May God protect them from harm in this world and the next, ameen.

A person came to Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم 💚complaining, regarding his father.

He said, “Oh Messenger of Allāh صلي الله عليه وسلم, my father does not ask me permission and he uses my wealth.”

Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم summoned for his father to be brought.

When his father had learnt that his son had complained to Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم he was very hurt, but proceeded towards him صلي الله عليه وسلم singing a few couplets.

By the time he reached Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم, Jibraeel Ameen عليه السلام had already informed Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم of these couplets, and told him صلي الله عليه وسلم, “Allāh has commanded to leave the case aside for the time being and ask him about the poetry that he recited.”

When the old man arrived, Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم, told him, “We will deal with your case later, first tell me about the poetry you were mentioning, on your way to me?”

The Sahabi hearing this, began to cry and said, “Those words that I hardly brought on my tongue, my ears barely heard it and Allahu Subhaana wa Ta’ala already knows about it.”

Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم asked him to present those couplets.

“Oh my Beloved son! The day you were born, that's the day my hardship began.

You cried and we couldn't sleep. You didn't eat and neither did we.

You became sick and I ran around with you to different doctors. Sometimes to a pious personality so that he may read and blow on you, so that you may not die...so that you may not die.

Where as death is one thing and sickness is another thing.

To save you from the heat of summer, I worked day and night so that my child should be cool.

I worked hard in the winter so that you may not freeze, but rather be at ease.

Whatever I earned, was for you.

Whatever I saved, was for you.

In order for you to see your youth, I worked day and night, till my bones became weak.

Then old age knocked on my door whilst you became strong; I became hunched whist you stood up straight and firm.

I hoped that you would grow up and achieve whatever you want.

Nevertheless now I will spend my last moments like this.

What is this, that a person grows up and his attitude changes, and his eyes reaches his head (pride).

You speak in such a way, as if a mountain is put on my chest.

You speak in such a manner, not even a servant is spoken to in that manner

I have put in thirty years of effort to be lied to, that I'm not your father but your servant.

Even a servant gets one meal a day.

Take me to be a servant and give me one meal for the day.”

Whilst saying these couplets he raised his head up, towards Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم and saw him صلي الله عليه وسلم crying so much, that his mubarak beard, became wet.

Rasūlillah صلي الله عليه وسلم stood up, upset and told the son, “I don't ever want to see you again and listen well,

YOU AND YOUR WEALTH BELONG TO YOUR FATHER!
YOU AND YOUR WEALTH BELONG TO YOUR FATHER!
YOU AND YOUR WEALTH BELONG TO YOUR FATHER!”

    Mustadrak al Hakim.
    Ahmad.

Wa 'alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,

Macha'Allah, I love the strength of the ihsan of sayyiduna RasulAllah (sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam). Such a charisma...

Yes ! He was indeed charismatic and it really seems like he ﷺ was never afraid to cry subhanaLah, whereas most of people nowadays have a bad image of a man crying.

As-salam 'alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,

Yep, sadly. The sunna is strange nowadays.
